Hand stitched all silk Suzani on a stunning Rose silk ground. This Aquatic themed Suzani from Uzbekistan contains 5 large medallions filled with fish in the "Circle of Life" or "Fish Pond" motif representative of female fertility, and 7 smaller medallions filled with birds symbolizing protection, and male virility. This exuberant suzani depicts fish, birds, Botem "teardrops", pinwheels, and scrolling floral motifs throughout with a delineated border of birds and fish. The silk threads are shades of blue, rust, salmon, pink, lavender, yellow, teal and orange. Flicker stitches in yellow and blue, black and red, add depth and movement to this exquisite suzani.
