Hand Stitched Suzani from Bukhara, Uzbekistan

This Tree of Life on hand loomed yellow and white ikat ground is hand embroidered by one artist in a traditional chain stitch with a red and white flicker stitch outlining the indigo blue tree trunk that is flanked by a pair of horses. 

The stylized pomegranates and birds perched in the tree are in shades of blue, red, green, ochre, brown, aubergine, lavender, pink, coral, and yellow. The central tree of life is bordered by vining pomegranates. 

Silk thread on ikat ground.
