Rare, hand-crafted 19th century Sindh Abochani (or wedding shawl) displaying a great amount of intricate silk stitches in rich raspberry pink, teal and black on camel colored linen. Central motif shows a fantastic eight petal flower with hand made silk pompons. 

 

Traditionally used as a wedding shawl, this rare 19th century Sindh Abochani is an excellent example of hand embroidery from the Punjab and Sindh regions of India and Pakistan. 

 

Worn by most brides in the area, these heirlooms were treasured and considered part of a woman's personal wealth. These works of embroidery art were often passed through generations in the maternal line and given for momentous occasions like birth or marriage. 

 

Condition is good, especially considering the age, but there is minimal damage.
